Our work
How QAMAR works with you
Quaker Action works across the Mid-Atlantic region on the public policy issues of greatest importance to its members. In 2025 these are: Defending Democracy, Climate Change and Ending Gun Violence.
Our work is focused at the state levels in PA, NJ and DE. We work in close collaboration and coordination with other civic, environmental and faith based organizations to improve public policy in our region.

QAMAR trains its members on the issues, and how to be effective advocates, e.g. to meet with their elected officials, to educate them and advocate for public policies that improve our environment, public health and safety, create local jobs and strengthen resilience in our communities.
We can provide in person workshops for Quaker meetings, other faith communities, retirement communities, schools and other Friends organizations. Contact Alexa Fraiman at alexa@quakeract.org to schedule a speaker for your organization.
Quaker Traditions of Activism
As we address ecological destruction, income inequality, and racial injustice we draw on traditional Quaker testimonies that articulate both the connections among these concerns and the imperative to act.

We value equality
Economic inequality has increased dramatically, with racial minorities experiencing the brunt of both income inequality and environmental harm.

We value integrity
Gross Domestic Product is a false measure of prosperity, and truth is being sacrificed in advertising, media, public discourse, and politics.

We value simplicity
Our ‘Growth Economy’ requires never ending consumption, debt, and exploitation of the natural world to sustain itself.

We value community
Yet we are being divided by racism, politics, classism and God’s community of life is diminished.

We value peace
The violence and devastation caused by our extractive economic model, and our dependence on fossil fuels is now threatening all life on earth.
